The
newly opened Northern
Thailand Resort is located opposite the village of PA NAI
which is 5 km. from PHRAO. Doi Farang Bungalow is built on the end of
a mountain-slope facing the big round valley of Phrao with all the ricefields,
many small villages with mostly wooden houses and colorful temples,
and in the background a big silhouette of high mountains.
Phrao
is a small, quiet and non polluted provincial town just 95 km. north
of Chiangmai. Road No. 1001, leds you straight from Chiangmai to Phrao. This
road is paved and in very good condition. The road takes you through
mountainous forests and passes the famous Wat Doi Mae Pang just
17km. before Phrao.
As
Phrao is centrally located, it is a very popular market place for many
northern villages and hilltribes at all times of the year - especially
on the big Monday-Market. The local market in Phrao provides daily fresh
vegetables and fruits, as many hilltribe people come down from the mountains
to sell their products in small market-stalls.
The
town, as well as DOI FARANG BUNGALOW, is very close to jungle areas
with various hidden hilltribe villages. Phrao's surrounding villages
are in the typical Northern Thailand's (Lanna) lifestyle with a lot
of old wooden houses - many times in old teakwood - and colorful temples
- still quite a few in wood and not made of concrete.
You
will find a simple lifestyle and lots of very friendly people all around
here.
